Abruzzo
Abruzzo, one of the most sparsely populated regions of Italy, is situated east from Rome on the Adriatic Sea. More than 60% of the region is mountainous while the rest is mostly composed of hills and coast. Abruzzo's has a 129 km long mostly sandy coastline, where many popular beach resorts are located.
About one third of Abruzzo is designated either as national or regional park areas. These parks are home to rare flora and fauna, such as bears, wolfs, eagles, and chamois. These parks are famous of their by breathtaking beauty and pristine environment so typical of the region of Abruzzo.
