Location
The mountain property is in Abruzzo, Italy on the mountain of Monte Picca. It is about 2 hours drive from Rome and 50 km from the airport in Pescara. The train station of Torre De' Passeri is about 20 km from the mountain property.
Thanks to the altitude of 1,016 meters and the great location of the mountain property, the vistas are nothing less than spectacular! On the north there is Corno Grande of the Gran Sasso massif, which is the highest peak in the Apennine Mountains and the highest on the Italian Peninsula, at 2,912 m above sea level. The view to the south includes the Majella massif which, at 2,793 m, has the second highest peak in the Apennine Mountains. Towards the east, there is the sea and, one a clear day, more than 100 km of coastal line visible.
Since the mountain property is within the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park (Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e dei Monti della Laga), the nature is in pristine conditions. Here you can find much of the flora and fauna which characterises the region of Abruzzo.
There are many famous places of Abruzzo worth visiting relatively near. For example, Gran Sasso, Majella, and the beach are all about 50 km or less from the mountain property. The medieval fortress of Rocca Calascio and the Castel Del Monte are about 20 km from it. The mountain property itself is within about 4 km walking distance of the historic town of Corvara. Also Monte Picca, on which the property is located, has numerous trails all the way to the summit.
